Application: Impacts of change from permanent to time-limited deferral of men who have sex with men from blood donation in Hong Kong

Applicant: Stanley Ho Centre for Emerging Infectious Diseases, The Chinese University of Hong Kong
Objectives: The objectives of this project are:
  1. examine the prevalence of deferrable risk behaviours associated with HIV and related conditions;
  2. determine the non-compliance rate of male donors towards MSM deferral before the introduction of time-limited deferral;
  3. as the baseline to assess the potential impacts of enforcing the new time-limited deferral on the HIV transmission risk in the Hong Kong setting.
