Application: Translating Recommendations and Findings into Effective Actions to Eliminate HIV/AIDS Stigma & Discrimination; and Maintain Hong Kong's Low HIV Prevalence for People of Different Gender, Sexuality, and Ethnicity

Objectives: The objectives of this project are:
  1. To enhance the prevention education on HIV and sexual health knowledge for MSM and encourage them to practice safe sex;
  2. To increase the awareness of early and regular HIV and STD testing among the MSM community and further promote Self-testing and mobile testing in order to raise the HIV testing rate;
  3. To adopt different HIV prevention methods so as to make them behavioural change which can reduce their risks of HIV & STD infections;
  4. To build up a healthy lifestyle and positive attitude towards sex among the MSM community through different workshops, groups, and activities so as to reduce the chance of conducting high-risk sexual behaviour and chemsex.
  5. To strengthen and enhance the overall performance of HIV prevention and sexual health education for those who have high-risk behaviours and are vulnerable to HIV and STDs infection, especially heterosexual males across age groups and their spouses and partners, female sex workers (FSW), part-time girlfriends (PTGF), and their male clients (MCFSW), and the “hidden” population of people with high-risk behaviours and suspicion of HIV infection such as young heterosexual adults.
  6. To provide professional and reliable HIV and STDs testing on a free, voluntary, anonymous, and confidential basis, combined with quality-assured services, including risk assessment, person-to-person counseling, prevention education, and instant emotional support.
  7. To organize the HIV self-testing scheme regularly for the above service users not only to increase the overall testing rate in local communities but also ensure people at-risk can be provided with self-testing kits to be used instantly and safely as well as to normalize the habit of HIV self-testing prevails among those at-risk populations.
  8. To develop a series of online self-learning courses for the above-targeted service users with an aim to initiate the basic knowledge of HIV & STDs and sexual health-related topics, the usage of PrEP and PEP as well as the culture of ChemSex in Hong Kong.
  9. To heighten the awareness of HIV/AIDS, promote safe sex practice and regular HIV and STD testing in the EM community, especially Indonesian and Filipino domestic workers plus their local sex partners, EM female sex workers, and their male clients, local EMs (with permanent residence), and refugees/asylum seekers;
  10. To provide accessible and affordable HIV/STD testing service to the above target service users;
  11. To advocate the HIV self-testing scheme for the above service users to ensure EMs at-risk can be provided with self-testing kits to be used instantly and safely under COVID-19;
  12. To involve EM members in HIV/AIDS prevention programmes.
