Application: Translating Recommendations and Findings into Effective Actions – Maintaining Hong Kong’s Low HIV Prevalence
Applicant: Hong Kong AIDS Foundation
Objectives: The objectives of this programme are:
  1. To advocate safer sex and annual HIV testing practice, especially among the Young MSM (YMSM), so as to raise the HIV testing rate among them;
  2. To pilot the HIV self-testing scheme starting from the Young MSM (YMSM);
  3. To strengthen the resistance of the Mature MSM (MMSM) against chemical sex, and encourage them to take regular HIV tests; and
  4. To develop a healthier lifestyle in the MSM community by training volunteers as peer educators to participate in HIV/AIDS prevention programmes
  5. To reach out and promote early testing and HIV prevention to local female sex workers (FSW), their male clients (MC) (e.g. local MC & ethnic minority male clients) and people who have high risk behaviours vulnerable to HIV infection (e.g. spouses/partners of male clients as well as heterosexual young adults);
  6. To promote and sustain safer sex practice among these high risk populations;
  7. To promote early and regular testing with counselling among target groups; and
  8. To offer immediate psychosocial support, risk assessment and preventive education to people we encounter from 1) AIDS helpline / VCT testing and 2) internet / apps intervention programmes.
  9. To educate and promote HIV and sexual health knowledge within EM communities;
  10. To increase awareness on the importance of HIV prevention, and also early and regular testing to target population (female EM sex worker);
  11. To reduce their high risk sexual practice and opportunity of infection; and
  12. To mobilize peer power on the prevention intervention.
