MSS 313 R
Application: MSM aged 21 or below: How they different from their older counterparts in terms of HIV-related behaviours?
Applicant: The Chinese University of Hong Kong
Objectives: The objectives of this project are:
  1. Compare the prevalence of sexual risk behaviours (UAI and Chemsex) and service utilization (HIV testing) in the last year between VYMSM and OMSM.
  2. To investigate associated factors of sexual risk behaviours and service utilization (common risk factors of all behaviours, factors specific to each behaviour based on the Theory of Planned Behaviour) among VYMSM and OMSM.
  3. To investigate whether age would interact with these associated factors to affect sexual risk behaviors and service utilization (i.e., whether the impact of these associated factors would be stronger among VYMSM than that of OMSM).
  4. To investigate associations between factors related to VYMSM experience (e.g., stress caused by uncertainty about their sexual orientation, family disapproval, experience of discrimination/bully at school/home due to their sexual orientation) and the sexual risk behaviors and service utilization among VYMSM.
Project Duration: June 2019 to May 2020
