MSS 299 R
Application: Real-time, portable nanopore-type sequencing for rapid HIV genotyping and drug resistance monitoring
Applicant: Department of Health Technology and Informatics, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
Objectives: The objectives of this project are:
  1. To establish an optimized protocol of nanopore sequencing of HIV genome from patient plasma
  2. To develop a bioinformatics pipeline for real-time sequence analysis and generation of clinician-friendly report of HIV subtypes, tropism and drug resistant mutations (DRMs)
  3. To determine the performance of optimized nanopore sequencing-based assay in identification of HIV subtypes, viral tropism and DRMs in comparison to Sanger sequencing and Illumina Next generation Sequencing (NGS) platform
Project Duration: June 2018 to May 2020
