Application: Incidence and progression of fatty liver disease and liver fibrosis in newly diagnosed HIV-infected individuals initiating anti-retroviral therapy
Applicant: The Chinese University of Hong Kong
Objectives: The aims are:
  1. To determine the baseline prevalence of fatty liver disease and liver fibrosis in newly diagnosed HIV-infected individuals
  2. To determine the incidence of fatty liver disease in newly diagnosed HIV-infected individuals starting anti-retroviral regimen over a two-year period
  3. To determine the progression of liver fibrosis in HIV-infected individuals with and without fatty liver disease
  4. To determine the variables associated with development and progression of fatty liver disease and liver fibrosis
