Application: Impact of Metabolic syndrome and Body Composition on Bone Mineral Density in HIV-infected individuals in Hong Kong

Applicant: Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine and Therapeutics, Prince of Wales Hospital, Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK)
Objectives: The aims of this project are:
  1. to evaluate whether metabolic syndrome is correlated with osteoporosis/osteopenia and bone mineral density (BMD) in HIV-infected individuals in Hong Kong.
  2. to evaluate whether body composition, including limb fat, trunk fat, and lean body mass, and inflammatory cytokines and adipokines, have any impact on BMD in this group of individuals.
