Application: LINK: Enhancing the link between HIV prevention, screening, treatment and care for the health of key populations

Applicant: AIDS Concern Foundation Limited
Objectives: The aims of this programme are:
  1. to increase knowledge about safer sex, HIV risk and testing for MSM, to use physical venues and Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) platforms of MSM to build a sexually healthy environment for MSM on HIV prevention education and HIV testing, and to make strong use of partnerships with LGBT groups and community groups to strengthen collaborative work on HIV prevention for MSM;
  2. to reach male clients of female sex workers (CFSW) in local and cross-border areas, including those exposed to HIV risk via commercial sex workers, casual sex relationship, irregular sex partners, and multiple mistresses, and to increase information and education on HIV prevention and safer sex received by hard-to-reach CFSW, and cultivate an environment where CFSW can easily learn about sexual health information and HIV testing services;
  3. to identify young people (25 and under) at high risk of HIV and associated STIs to provide them with knowledge and skills that promote safer sex behaviour and HIV testing, and to increase awareness of testing as prevention in the community of youth at-risk for HIV infection via building partnership and social media platforms;
  4. to provide an HIV testing service for the vulnerable communities to ensure their HIV/STIs status can be diagnosed early stage, while those with high risk behaviors can understand and eliminate their risk factors, enhancing their wellbeing and sexual health through the counselling service, and to significantly increase the testing numbers in Hong Kong by providing more tests to high risk people over three years; and
  5. to enhance the psychosocial wellbeing and social support for people living with HIV (PLHIV) in order to increase safer sex practice, early treatment and drug adherence, and to reduce internal and external stigma towards PLHIV to build an enabling environment that supports better health outcomes through the joint efforts of PLHIV and the community stakeholders.
