Application: Translating recommendations and findings into effective actions – maintaining Hong Kong' slow HIV prevalence

Applicant: Hong Kong AIDS Foundation
Objectives: The aims of this programme are:
  1. to encourage people with high risk behaviours and suspicion of HIV infection to do early and regular testing, conducive to effective prevention, care and control of HIV/AIDS;
  2. empower PLHIV; help them face their problems and maintain safer sex practice; and involve them in HIV prevention so as to enhance the quality of their lives, prevent secondary infection and foster the development of a caring, supportive and inclusive social environment for them;
  3. to implement a series of sexual health programmes including HIV prevention education, to promote safer sex practice and sustaining their behavioural change and to mobilise the community through volunteering to participate in HIV prevention education; and
  4. to strengthen and broaden HIV prevention among cross-border travellers, specifically Men who have sex with Men (MSM) and male clients of female sex workers (MCFSW), from Hong Kong to neighbouring cities namely: Shenzhen, Zhuhai and Macau through collaboration with counterparts in the Mainland and Macau, conducive to curbing the spread of the AIDS epidemic.
