Application: Scaling Up HIV Testing among MSM in collaboration with an NGO by applying the 5A Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) Intervention Model (Executive Summary submitted by the applicant)
Applicant: School of Public Health & Primary Care The Chinese University of Hong Kong
Objectives: The objectives of this programme are:-
  1. to assess common interests and problems relating to HIV testing promotion among hard-to-reach MSM through establishing a CBPR intervention working group consisting of academic researchers, NGO, and MSM community members;
  2. to identify facilitators and barriers of HIV testing among the target MSM in terms of accessibility, availability, and utilization of HIV prevention services;
  3. to develop and to refine the 5A intervention protocol by critical evaluation of the current outreach module for HIV testing promotion, the findings from quantitative assessments, and intervention field notes; and
  4. to evaluate the effectiveness of the newly developed intervention in terms of the process of the 5A CBPR intervention and the outcome of the increased rate of HIV testing in the target population.
