Application: Primary and Secondary Prevention of AIDS among Injection Drug Users
Applicant: he Society for the Aid and Rehabilitation of Drug Abusers
Objectives: The aims of this programme are:-
  1. to increase the awareness on HIV/AIDS among drug users;
  2. to discourage Injecting Drug Users (IDUs) from sharing needles/syringes;
  3. to encourage IDUs to use condom during intercourse;
  4. to encourage IDUs to attend HIV antibody test;
  5. to provide social services and assistance to HIV-infected methadone patients in coping with the factors inhibiting their adherence to medical care on HIV/AIDS;
  6. to provide social services and assistance to HIV-infected methadone patients in coping with the factors inhibiting their adherence to drug treatment programme;
  7. to equip HIV-infected methadone patients with the knowledge and skills in proper self-care and reduction of risky behaviours;
  8. to encourage HIV-infected methadone patients to be involved in non-drug using social activities.
