Application: Low Prevalence, High Concern – Scaled-up and Intensified HIV Prevention for MSN, Sex Workers and their Clients
Applicant: AIDS Concern Foundation Limited
Objectives: The aims of this programme are:-
  1. to scale up prevention effort in the MSM community through outreach activities in physical and virtual venues by educating MSM on HIV/STI knowledge, skills in safer sex negotiation, understanding in risk reduction and perception of relationship and risk of HIV/STI infection. It also aims to build the capacity and empower the MSM community to take ownership in HIV prevention.
  2. to target Hong Kong female sex workers, sex industry personnel and sex worker clients (local and cross border) to deliver sexual health information and preventive messages to ensure condom use and testing behaviour of these populations. It also aims to empower the communities through peers development and stakeholders involvement to maximize coverage of prevention messages as well as participation of the sex industry community.
  3. to create a comprehensive sexual health model for high risk populations (MSM, sex workers and their clients and MSM PLHAs) by scaling up of HIV/STI testing coverage, establishment of community-based surveillance for HIV prevalence and risk behaviour, intensive efforts to reduce risk among high risk individuals to take measures to avoid the possibility of exposing others to infection to keep Hong Kong’s prevalence low.
